Security Benefits of Combining NetFlow and Physical Access Point Data Revealed on New Webcast

Kennebunk, ME – October 17, 2013 — Ravica, a leading provider of secure access and environmental monitoring sensors, today announced the integration of its secure data room access solution with Plixer International, Inc.’s NetFlow-based network traffic monitoring and threat detection technology. Plixer CEO, Michael Patterson and Matthew St. Jean, Solutions Engineer for Ravica will share the data center benefits and security advantages through a complimentary webcast titled: “Securing Your Data Center From the Inside Out” Thursday, October 24, 10AM and 4PM (EDT).

Ravica secures server rooms for medium to large enterprises by providing access hardware with options for finger print readers, proximity access key tags and card readers. In addition, the company also provides fail safe physical door controls such as heavy duty door locks and electronic strike plates.

Plixer’s award-winning NetFlow-based network traffic monitoring solution, Scrutinizer improves the ability to identify cyber threats and simplifies visibility of the threat landscape by placing hosts in a threat heat map. Hosts high and to the right are exhibiting the most abnormal behaviors.

The fully integrated solution will enable the Ravica security system to access logs entered into Plixer’s Scrutinizer architecture as flows, where they can be correlated with messages collected from hundreds of electronic and physical access points deployed throughout a data center. By maintaining a single secure data store of all physical access and system messages, security teams may now correlate data center entry logs with configuration change logs and even authentication messages to enhance security procedures.

Thomas Pore, Director of Support Services for Plixer International, explains the benefits his company receives from the solution integration, “With Plixer securing the enterprise network traffic and Ravica providing secure physical access, we have heightened our security visibility. Integrating Ravica’s security cameras and access security logs into Scrutinizer allows us to provide an additional layer of security context in the event a physical breach occurs.”

“As providers of security and environmental monitoring solutions, this integration allows Ravica to become part of a single electronic security and threat detection solution,” said Matthew St. Jean, Solutions Engineer for Ravica. “By installing physical secure access to data centers, our logs and HD cameras ensure full visibility in the event security teams need to respond quickly with full-proof evidence.”
