Scrutinizer Version 7.2 Expands Its Netflow Support On Cisco Asa Switches, Adds More Traffic Analysis Gadgets And Provides A More User Customizable Interface.

Jon Mills

Sanford, ME — Oct 30, 2009 — Plixer International, makers of an industry leading network traffic monitoring tool set, today released Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer version 7.2, the next level in network traffic diagnostics and reporting.

Scrutinizer captures Cisco NetFlow, sFlow and other flow technologies and uses that data to monitor the overall network health. Knowing which hosts, application groups and protocols are using the most traffic is extremely valuable to network administrators, when diagnosing network traffic congestion issues. For users looking for a more proactive approach, Plixer offers the commercial Flow Analytics (FA) module, which performs network behavior analysis. FA watches all hosts on the network for any odd or potentially hazardous traffic patterns. Behaviors watched for include DDoS attacks, ICMP Unreachable, various forms of network scans, such as SYN, FIN, XMAS, NULL, etc. Traffic is monitored to ensure no one is communicating with the list of known compromised Internet hosts, which is updated several times per day. Illegal IP addresses, protocols, etc., as well as configurable traffic patterns, can be monitored and used to trigger alarms.

With improved NetFlow support on Cisco ASA devices, more forensic traffic reporting gadgets for Flow Analytics users and a more customizable user interface, version 7.2 marks another step forward for Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer.

“This new release continues to solidify Scrutinizer as a market leader in NetFlow and sFlow reporting,” says Scrutinizer Product Manager, Michael Patterson. “We are confident that IT professionals will appreciate the focus our tools place on flow-based network analysis. We try to offer a more best of breed solution, rather than dabbling in several different approaches to traffic analysis. After all, we’re not just another NetFlow add-on. We’re a complete NetFlow solution.”

Plixer also extends its reach in the global market with this release by adding native German and Japanese translations of the application and its manual. This brings Scrutinizer’s total number of supported languages to nine.
