Enhanced Traffic Analysis Software Identifies Device Owner, Type And Location To Improve Network Security And Enhance Bandwidth For Improved It Services
Sanford, Maine — May 01, 2012 — Plixer International Inc, a leading provider of NetFlow-based network traffic reporting, today announced that it will join forces with Enterasys at Interop to showcase the first NetFlow analysis tool -- Scrutinizer 9.0 -- to fully integrate with Enterasys' Mobile IAM Solution supporting BYOD deployments. Unveiled on May 6th at the Mandalay Bay, booth #927, Interop, Las Vegas, the new offering pairs login credentials from individual users and devices connecting to the network through the Mobile IAM appliance, with the deep-dive analysis of NetFlow-based traffic monitoring, to enhance network security and improve bandwidth for faster application performance and improved VoIP communications.
Enterasys' Mobile IAM solution provides unparalleled visibility and control into the Enterprise connected devices, including optional pre-admission endpoint security policy checks and post-admission, to control where the devices (laptops, smartphones and tablets) can go on a network and what they can do. Once allowed on the network, Mobile IAM's shares users' login credentials with Plixer's Scrutinizer to enable IT administrators to see:
- Who is connected to the network (users and mobile device types);
- What applications they are using;
- Where the devices (switches, routers, wireless access points, etc.) are, and who they are communicating with;
- When they are consuming too much bandwidth, and
- How to change the level of access for user and/or device type
"The integration of Enterasys' Mobile IAM and Plixer's award-winning Scrutinizer is a solution forged out of necessity and driven by new challenges such as securing personal devices connecting to corporate networks (BYOD)," said Michael Patterson, Product Manager, Co-Founder, Plixer International, Inc. "This new network traffic analysis is not a single observation point such as a firewall, but full visibility -- across the entire enterprise -- showing the user, operating system and specific device, and not just an IP address."
Scrutinizer is a one hundred percent web-based tool that provides detailed network utilization reports showing the applications and users generating network traffic. Leveraging the software's domain utilization report, even sites with secured connections that use encrypted traffic can't hide from the insight provided by NetFlow and IPFIX collection and reporting. Scrutinizer is designed to peer deep into bandwidth traffic and enable the network administrator to easily see who is consuming bandwidth, what they are using it for and immediately restore precious bandwidth for work-related needs.
