|Network Monitoring|

Network Monitoring Overview:
Good network monitoring should begin with an understanding of what the needs are and a controlled auto-discovery, which finds network interfaces and the vital signs of necessary devices and servers. Not limited to SNMP, WebNM supports WMI, syslog, Event Log, SNMPv1, v2 and v3 traps, as well as other forms of messages. Graphical displays of the network are available geographically and departmentally. Notifications can take business hours into consideration and can be incrementally escalated to individuals or entire teams.

Highlights:
Monitors virtually any IP address or application
Provides latency to virtually any IP address or application
Supports SNMPv1, v2, v3 and WMI
Syslog, Event Log, SNMP Trap and email message collection
Historical Trending on all of the above, inclusive of scheduled emailed reports
Real-time graphical alarm consoles and integration with the Dashboards
Dashboard integration

More Features:
Real-time trends via a web browser
Fault isolation down to specific interfaces
Schedule maintenance downtime
Integration with almost any 3rd party monitoring solution
Leverages probes but, not dependant on them

Benefits:
Integrates with 3rd party tools that serve unique needs
Integrates with the industry's most popular network monitoring solutions
On demand web status and reports

SNMP Management
WebNM can monitor and trend any SNMP counter. When necessary, templates can be created and applied to the auto-discovery engine. Data can be displayed in one minute intervals; all in a web browser.

Exception Reports - Top 10
WebNM pours through thousands of interfaces being polled and displays, on demand, the top interfaces utilized, busiest CPUs, most consumed hard drives, slowest responding and worst available. It is fast, it is web-based and it can be emailed on a configurable interval.

Syslog collection, notification and trending
Logalot,WebNM's syslog collection server, can receive messages from all the devices on the network and provide:
Correlation regarding who is sending the same type of messages
Notification only if the unique message becomes excessive (e.g. 5 within a 2 minute interval)
Forwarding of messages to HP OpenView, Network Node Manager, CA Unicenter-TNG, BMC Patrol and others
Trends the frequency of matching message trends
Health reports on the frequency of certain messages, devices sending the most messages, etc.

Switches, routers, servers, PBXs and etc. can all send their messages to WebNM. One of the keys to a good syslog solution is reporting and WebNM has it.

Real-time network monitoring and mapping
WebNM offers both a real-time console and a web interface for viewing alarms. The web dashboards can display an up to the minute status of critical network links, latency to specific locations and other selected criteria.

Performance trending and reporting
WebNM tracks health information on the 3 staple reports:
Utilization of all interfaces and the vital signs of the device (e.g. CPU, memory, etc.)
Availability of pinging the device compared to the SNMP sysUpTime (i.e. operation since last reboot)
Response time including distributed latency reports using Cisco's IP SLA technology

QoS
All of the data collected can be used for historical trending, dashboards and emailed reports, using definable date ranges.

NetFlow Analysis with Scrutinizer
WebNM's NetFlow analysis supports unlimited interfaces across your infrastructure. Don't be limited to SNMP graphs of port utilization. Scrutinizer provides historical trends of the company's critical network interfaces, as well as the details on:
Who: The end system causing the traffic
What: The application/protocol that is being used
When: The time frame it has been occurring for
Where: The network connection that is effected

Result: If something is consuming excessive bandwidth, the end system can be identified quickly, without utilizing a packet analyzer.
