Scrutinizer v7 supports Huawei-3Com NetStream packets

Huawei-3Com Co., Ltd (H3C) began operations as a joint venture between Huawei and 3Com in November 2003. In 2006, they officially went their separate ways, with 3Com buying out Huawei’s share in H3C. H3C, as 3Com’s presence in China, continued to prosper, until the non-compete clause that Huawei agreed to ended.
With the joint venture, however, came NetStream packets. NetStream packets presently have three formats, v5/v8/v9, which are similar to NetFlow packet formats v5/v8/v9; which makes these packets easily supportable by most NetFlow analyzers.
However, the interface description information in the NetStream packet does not use the Standard MIB II, but rather uses their propietary Interface MIBs.
Working closely with a customer in Turkey using Huawei switches and routers, we were able to develop code to access the Huawei ifIndex MIBs and report the correct interface information for the NetStream packets.
If you are using either Huawei or 3Com networking equipment that supports NetStream and would like to use Scrutinizer for your network traffic monitoring tool, please contact Plixer Technical Support for more information.
