Cisco NetFlow Goes Hip Hop With Mix Master Mitch And Plixer International Plixer International puts an entertaining spin on monitoring NetFlow with the Cisco Catalyst 6509 Rap, their latest in a series of videos by Mix Master Mitch. For more information: Sanford, ME -- December 11, 2009 -- Best at NetFlow and traffic analysis, Plixer International, has released their much anticipated follow up to the rap video Scrutinizer 7.0 (One Thing You Should Know), with a track aimed directly at the Cisco Catalyst 6509 model switch. Marketing Scrutinizer, Plixer's NetFlow collector and analyzer, is certainly reason enough for the video's inception, but getting Cisco users to take advantage of overlooked features their routers and switches already support was the "catalyst" for getting it off the ground. "The main idea behind this song was to show the simplicity and importance of getting NetFlow up and running on the network," says Mitch Wilson, star and songwriter of all three of Plixer's raps. "Essentially, there are all of these Cisco users out there that could be gaining more visibility into the users and applications on their network, in turn, saving them money on bandwidth and increasing network security, yet NetFlow is a feature that goes largely untapped. We hope that the Cisco Catalyst 6509 Rap will entertain and educate at the same time." For those interested in where Mitch Wilson (AKA Mix Master Mitch) originated, they need look no further than the original NetFlow Rap. This original video was produced by Mitch on a webcam in his home. "It's nice to be doing the video's with a budget now. Creatively, there is a lot more you can do with a real camera crew and an editing room. Plus I think the audience can appreciate the better sound and video quality. But that probably won't stop me from making more songs in my basement." The release of Plixer's new video is timed appropriately, given the release of Scrutinizer NetFlow & sFlow Analyzer version 7.3.1, a minor update to their network performance and security monitoring solution. The new release of Scrutinizer includes improvements to performance and other key feature enhancements. Pricing and availability Scrutinizer is a completely free NetFlow analysis tool, but for historical data retention beyond 24 hours and additional traffic diagnostics features, the Flow Analytics module is available starting at $1,995.
